Argentina travel guide

Not many would know this, but Argentina is among the world’s most under-appreciated travel destinations, with landscapes to die for (quite literally!), a spritely culture unparalleled by any other country, and not to forget, world-class cities that are interspersed within its borders that stretch from Bolivia to the tip of South America, spanning 3,500 kms. Quite obviously, the country is obsessed with football, but that is not all there is to it, and people from all parts of the world can find something of their interest here. The country is nearly as big as India in terms of area, and the numerous activities one can indulge in include – crossing the Patagonian prairie for a brush with nature, climbing South America’s highest peak, bearing witness to the world’s most spectacular waterfalls, and strolling among thousands of penguins.

The Lake District is a haven for hikers, who can revel in the fantastic scenery, as lakes and white tipped mountains are going to take one’s breath away, with Patagonia’s glacier filled landscapes and Andean deserts make way for a most interesting experience that can only be witnessed in Argentina. Those who prefer the hustle and bustle of the city would prefer to go with Buenos Aires and learn Spanish, enjoy futbol (football), learn to break some tango moves, and have a jolly good time with portenos, the local Buenos Aires population. Coming to more regular stuff, shopping for designer labels at the most affordable prices and eating awesome steaks on a regular basis while partying all night long – there are quite a few tourists who can’t believe they have been missing all this based on just rumours. The country recently celebrated its 200th year of independence in 2010, celebrating its de-colonisation from Spain, so one can expect to see splendid museums and renovated buildings that speak of Argentinean pride and glory.

Talking of the capital, Buenos Aires, the city can best be described as a combination of a European city with great shopping and dining options, a nightlife that makes one wish for more hours, and that is precisely what Buenos Aires stands for. Among the new age designer boutiques and posh neighbourhoods, there is a part of the city that resembles the not-so-pleasant side, but the portenos don’t seem to mind this, and think of it as a striking contrast! And this is precisely the reason why the city continues to figure among the top destinations in the world in terms of attitude and a vibrant culture. The old world cafes and the classical architecture fuse together brilliantly with the modern buildings and ultra high-tech advancement of the day to result in an enticing combination of past, present and future, which rubs off in all facets of life while one is in the capital of Argentina.

Subscribing to Matrix international sim cards while on vacation or business in Argentina is a great way to keep in touch with important personal and professional contacts, what with the superb network coverage and voice clarity, and not to mention up to 80% savings on every call!

Argentina: The unique South American destination

One of the most beautiful countries in the world, Argentina has since forever been a favorite destination of tourists from all over the world. To start off with, there's no particular season which can be termed as the right one to visit this country, the reason being that since it's so huge, it all depends on which part a person is visiting.

Argentina is situated in the Southern Hemisphere, and thus has inverse seasons compared to what one may expect, much like Australia. For instance, if it's snowing in England or the US, it would be summer in Argentina. There is a drastic shift in weather across the country mainly because of the Andes, and one can find subtropical weather in the north and a cooler climate in the south, at the same time. Let's see some of the places of interest in this glorious country.

Buenos Aires: Also known as the Paris of South America, Beunos Aires has all the characteristics of a European metropolis, and one can easily get confused whether he/she is really in a South American country. There is exotic food, some of the world's finest wines and mind-blowing architectural specimens, not to forget, the undeniably jovial spirit of the tango, this is one city that simply rocks!

Iguazu Falls: This world-famous attraction is also addressed as the Gateway to Argentina, and is taller than the Niagara Falls. If that is not reason enough to see this natural wonder, you will surely miss the sight of a lifetime.

Patagonia: One of the largest regions in Argentina, Patagonia is home to some of the most beautiful aquatic life you have seen, including whales and penguins in the lake region of Bariloche and Peninsula Valdes. One can also see a wide variety of wildlife besides this, and also experience the breathtaking grandeur of glaciars.

Mendoza: Although Beunos Aires has its own range of food and wine, those who really love their culinary buds will have a blast in Mendoza, besides soaking in the magnificence of nature around the Andes mountains. The wine regions located on the western side of this region are also a visual treat.

Salta: This region is located in the northern part of Argentina, and is the only place in the country where the weather remains virtually similar all 365 days of the year. It is an unforgettable experience to journey through this place via train to see the beautiful scenery up, close and personal.

The Atlantic Coast: And last, but far from the least, is the most preferred destination for tourists – the Atlantic coastline of Argentina. As far as accommodation is concerned, there are many top class hotels and villas having see facing rooms for you to enjoy your vacation to the fullest.

By now, you must have been pretty convinced to visit this marvelous country, but remember to keep in touch with near and dear ones with international calling cards from Matrix, the world leader in global communications, that saves up to 80% on international calls, so that you can talk to your loved ones without looking at the watch.
